Well, not really. It was actually released several day or so back but I've been slacking on the reading of them.

Anyway, Friends Forever #9. Granny Smith and the Flim Flam Brothers. What could be better? Well, plenty actually as I'm not the greatest fan of either Granny or the brothers. Still happy enough to read it though.

So...what do I think of it?

Short answer: Meh, it's alright.

What I like:

  • The colouring - Is this a thing I can like? Well, I do. Why? I don't know. It looked nice and vibrant.

  • The story (or perhaps the lesson?) - The blood bond. Family is important. That's nice.

What I didn't like:

  • The story (the journey to the lesson) - It was too simple. Brothers break up over a girl. Granny talks to brothers. Brothers get over it. That was pretty much it. I know it's only a twenty-odd page comic but I still want more from them. Heck, even if the brothers had ended up playing Granny the whole time I'd have liked it more.

  • Pointless bits - They could have done a bit more with Apple Bloom even though it's not her comic. She may as well have stayed with Applejack with the amount of amusement I got from it.

  • EVERYBODY showing up. A page with pretty much every pony you could hope for on it. Princesses to background ponies. These appearances are much better when it's the odd character showing up, not every single one. Yeah, some of the situations a few were in were rather amusing though.

Neutral feeling:

  • The art style - Going to sound weird here but it looked a little cartoony. I don't know how to justify that as it's a comic based on a cartoon but whatever.

Call it my lack of interest in the characters involved but I just didn't feel anything special with this one.
